Case of the Ennahdha party activists in Beja: Stop vindictive justice

On November 21, 2025, the Criminal Division of the Anti-Terrorism Pole of the Tunis Court of First Instance ruled in favor of nine defendants belonging to the Enahadha party in Beja, sentenced to heavy prison terms. The list includes the movement's regional secretary general Mohamed Mzoughi (10 years' imprisonment) and other supporters, whose sentences ranged from 12 years' imprisonment to 2 years' imprisonment with immediate execution for the latter, and 5 years' administrative control for Madame Raja Tabaoubi.

The facts attributed to the convicts are simply Facebook statutes. The legal basis for the charges is the caricatural "Cocktail" of Kais Said's repressive apparatus, namely conspiracy, terrorist conspiracy, incitement against the institutions of the State, contempt of the President of the Republic and the infamous article 24 of decree-law 54/2022.

The CRLDHT :

  • Denounces the instrumentalization of anti-terrorism laws and the justice system for political ends aimed at prohibiting the right to freedom of expression and freedom of association, in particular the right to join political parties within a legal and constitutional framework.
  • Condemns the obvious disproportion between the alleged facts and the initiation of public action, and the unreasonably repressive judgment, which betrays a political desire to eradicate all dissenting voices in the public sphere.
  • Reiterates its unconditional support for all victims of Kais Saied's criminal regime
  • Calls on all Tunisian citizens to demonstrate their refusal to resign themselves to silence in the face of the usurpers of their revolution, in order to put an end to Kais Said's chaotic policy of terrorizing the Tunisian people and dividing to rule, or rather to ensure the survival of his reign, which has accumulated nothing but fiascos and human rights violations.
