Our history

Home / our history

The CRLDHT has been called upon to play a role in deepening democratic debate by challenging Tunisian democrats on issues such as gender equality in both the public and private spheres, and the place of religion in relation to politics. It has contributed to the strengthening of Tunisian civil society through a real deepening of the democratic debate within it. It has acquired the ability to unite the various sectors of the democratic movement around an unconditional defense of those threatened by the regime because of their political ideas.

activities and milestones

Our association has been active since its creation in 1996. However, the pace and intensity of its activities have varied from period to period. By way of example, we would like to mention some of the most significant actions since the association's creation, in addition to the countless initiatives of solidarity and support for victims of repression of all persuasions and backgrounds: human rights defenders, feminists, trade unionists, citizens, journalists, lawyers, artists, writers and political opponents. For the record, here is a reminder of the main actions in which the CRLDHT has participated, some of which it initiated and/or carried out.
