Faced with the war of extermination waged by Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, with the blatant complicity of several major powers, and faced with the inability of international human rights mechanisms to uphold their own standards and protect Palestinians against the daily operations of murder, starvation and destruction carried out by the Israeli war machine for nearly twenty months, the Committee for the Respect of Freedoms and Human Rights in Tunisia (CRLDHT):
- renews its condemnation of the crimes committed by the Israeli machine of destruction against the inhabitants of Gaza and the entire Palestinian territory;
- calls on international human rights bodies to increase pressure for the application of international law, to uphold the decisions of the International Criminal Court and to arrest war criminals and bring them to justice;
- Welcomes the gradual awakening of global consciousness and the growing awareness of the brutality of Israeli aggression and the incessant attacks perpetrated by the occupier against the Palestinian people.
In this context, the CRLDHT expresses its full support, esteem, and endorsement of all initiatives undertaken by civil activists, political figures, and international figures to break the blockade imposed on the Palestinians. Among the most notable initiatives of recent days:
- The Global March to Gaza, in which citizens from 37 countries participated, and which had set a date for June 15, 2025, in Rafah to break the blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to a people suffocated to death;
- The surge of Maghreb solidarity, embodied by the Tunisian-Algerian Resilience Caravan (Soumoud), which left Tunisia for Gaza;
- The Freedom Flotilla, which featured several internationally renowned figures, including MEP Rima Hassan and Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg.
And while strongly condemning the inhumane blockade imposed by the Israeli occupation army on Gaza and the Palestinian people as a whole, the CRLDHT also expresses its deep indignation at the role played by certain Arab regimes that work to perpetuate the blockade and starve the Palestinians, with revolting cowardice and cynicism.
Thus, the Egyptian regime not only prevented the International March from reaching Gaza, it also assaulted several participants, detained them, and then expelled them.
For its part, the Maghreb Resilience Caravan (Somoud) was the direct target of eastern Libyan forces. According to its organizers, the caravan was systematically surrounded and prevented from advancing, several activists were kidnapped, and local authorities blocked access to water, food, and medicine, while cutting off communications and the internet.
All this in absolute silence from the Tunisian and Algerian authorities, who nevertheless continue to hammer home their attachment to “Maghreb brotherhood” and the “defense of the Palestinian cause,” while turning a blind eye to the repression and endangerment of their own nationals, peacefully engaged in a solidarity caravan for Gaza.
These facts confirm once again that the real enemy of the liberation of Palestine and the building of an independent Palestinian state is no longer limited to the Israeli occupation, but also includes Arab regimes that claim to support the cause in public, while betraying it in practice.
In this same spirit of military escalation, the CRLDHT condemns in the strongest terms the recent Israeli attacks against civilian and military sites on Iranian territory, in flagrant violation of international law and in an extremely dangerous move to export the conflict beyond the borders of occupied Palestine.
Just as Gaza is being destroyed in the complicit silence of the major powers, the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian, Lebanese and Iranian territories, and now against sovereign states, reflect the extreme degree of impunity enjoyed by Israel, with the full support of the United States and Western governments.
The policy of preemptive wars and extraterritorial strikes, practiced with impunity by Israel, jeopardizes regional and international peace and security. It confirms that this colonial regime is no longer content to practice apartheid in Palestine, but is seeking to impose its law and domination by force throughout the region.
In this context, the CRLDHT urges all democratic forces and human rights defenders to mobilize without delay. It recalls that a delegation from the Committee will be present in Brussels on June 23, 2025 , on the occasion of the arrival of the “Paris – Brussels” march, organized under the slogan:
"For Gaza: Stop the genocide - Europe must act!"
This participation reaffirms our unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause , as well as our determination to denounce colonialism, occupation and all forms of complicity, wherever they come from.
